always good: Joy Division
when I'm in a mean mood: Ministry
for chilling out: Dead Can Dance

kickass: Skinny Puppy
lullaby: The Cure (esp. Disintegration album, and earlier work)

alienating: Legendary Pink Dots

energizing: Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, The Prodigy
just great: Mike Oldfield, Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd
my more mainstream side: Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, earlier U2

I had The Zombies coming through the speakers earlier on... "She's Not There"... wow that was awesome. I like a lot of different music.

ummmmm. Hard Question for me to answer. Basically I tend to be very moody with regards to music (I have just come off a major funk where I couldn't "get off" to any music at all...THAT majorly blows) And I am too ADHD to spend time listening to anyone's CD all the way through (at best, I may like one-two songs off a CD and the rest just fatigues me). So recently, I've taken to listening to XM radio. Yesterday (as I was driving...which is one of my most favored ways to listen to music), I spent the day listening to an assortment of acoustic song-writers...alternating that with some of the new outlaw or alt-country stuff (mind you, I don't care for the usual country stuff you hear...this is more of the SERIOUSLY talented writers/performers...with something legitimate to say). I usually listen to stuff that I want to learn something from...kind of like a "study". Oh...and as a contrast, at one point I was seriously rocking out to an extended version of the Chamber's Brother's "Time"... oh man, what an experience that one was.... Anyway, tomorrow, I will probably be listening to something COMPLETELY different. Sorry for the tangential nature of this...

OH!
re:  Don Ross....

my son....who is in University for Music (flute)  told me the other day that one of his professors has a "guy" over every now & again.....& her husband jams with him..She's got her doctorate in music (french horn)  & is one of the most talented teachers I have EVER MET.

this guy her husband jams with?

DON ROSS.

After I woke up from a dead faint........I BEGGED him to talk with his teacher.  I guess Don is touring in Germany right now, but is visiting when he gets back.

His teacher said....ok.  I'm welcome to come over.

after I woke up from another fainting spell.......I haven't stopped practicing my BUTT off.

just had to let you know of my upcoming "brush with greatness."

Eisley.  I have an affinity for all of their music, but particularly their first cd called Room Noises.  Girl singer.  a bit abstract as far as the lyrics go... dreamy and surreal.  First track on that cd is good:

No linky's D:
But right now, I'm listening to Rose Leaf Rag, by Scott Joplin. I bought a CD of Scott Joplin's Rags for AU$10, which I'm rather pleased with. So there's a whole list of rags I've listened to today.
Also by Scott Joplin:
The Crush Collision March
The Cascades
The Roseud March
Reflection Rag
And there's 16 all up, over an hour of ragtime, makes me happy.

Also listened to today:
Sunburn, by Muse.
Showbiz, by Muse.
Muscle Museum, by Muse.
They're awesome. I also made an AU$10 investment into Muse's Showbiz album.
Me very happy.

AND:
Rite of Spring, by Angels and Airwaves (much less dissonant than that symphonic piece by that guy I forgot, but people hated his music because he was different, in his time).
Heaven, by Angels and Airwaves.
Love Like Rockets, by Angels and Airwaves.
I also bought the Angels and Airwaves album I-Empire, today. That made me so very happy
Wait...

That's better.
That CD cost $30 though... not the bargain that the others were...
But still...
And I SHOULD be listening to Also Sprach Zarathustra, but Richard Strauss, but the CD shop didn't have that. (For those who don't know, it's the opening theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey, and it goes for over 20 minutes, I think...), but I'm still happy.

Bluesy, Jazzy,Fusion day for me today
Started off with Bela Fleck U.F.O. TOFU
Then ,  Best Of Lee Ritenour,
next* is doing to be
one of my Favorite Cd's which is Paul Rogers (Bad Company) singing a ... Tribute to Muddy Waters,  all blues classics with guest guitarist.
Then some SRV and Robin Ford.
next one in the rack is Miles Davis .....Kinda Blue...

I think I'll hit random play and just let the cd player suprise me with which song it will be out of these next* choices.

next*  is the ones I have not listened to yet.

I've been into the Vista/XP transformation stuff and sussed out quite quickly how to get the Windows Vista Sidebars to work in my XP (I'm not into Vista), one of the gadgets that appeared with the installation was one 'Al's Rock Radio'.......I have this thing on nearly every day. It has the most excellent Rock channels : Virgin Classic Rock , Chronix Radio , Hard Rock Radio , Magarock Hard 128 , 4U Rock N Metal and much more.....and it's not impossible to write your own radio channel links into the code, if you know how!
So what am I listening to ? Whitesnake, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, U2, Bowie, Alice Cooper, The Cure, Scorpions etc etc and it goes on all day
Makes me realise that I am after all an old rocker at hart ! lol

If you have Vista and use the sidebar go look here : http://www.gadgetsforvista.net/Gadgets/Multimedia/Al-s-Rock-Radio.html

If you want the sidebar for your XP .... suss it out, I did!
OK PM me or something if you are interested in the Sidebar installation pack for you XP, it is out there in Torrent / web land but needs understanding,
I do want to make a complete pack and put it out as a torrent, but not now......

Hey Kunadiun, I never imaginedanyone else would have even heard of the cathrine wheel lol.  If you haven't heard it yet, try to find a song called black metallic, far less up tempo than sparks or gasoline but its one of my favorites.

And I suppose I should share too lol, I'm currently listening to:

Carry on wayward sun - kansas
Foreplay long time - boston (best bass ever lol)
(I know odd choices but they are classic lol)

Moist - this shrieking love
Some tracks I am working on
Both listed songs from heartxposure,
A bunch of marula - but she hasn't been on for a while
And I'm slowly working my way through the myriad of songs on bandamp I haven't heard yet.
