| HELP - The AMP Vol II |
Due to lack of interest from our members I'm going to give this ONE more effort.
Any member who wants their music included in the next BandAMP album needs to contact me by the end of September 2010, after which I will close the project if there are not enough songs to create an album.
Any members wishing to PM/EMAIL other members to encourage them to participate would be helpful, or similar.

Urgency and deadlines work in a corporate world
I dont think it work on a free internet site......and I think the lack of 'sales' of the first might deter members (if they are around) from diving in enthusiastically.
What do I think would work?
A bit of patients .....
Let members suggest different tracks again like we did the first time, let members make some Album Art again....the interest will grow when suggestions are made.
I'm not saying this expecting Denis to go off and spend time and money on iTunes again, but I do think that creating Albums of BandAmp music should be our prerogative.
By getting the track lists, mastering, tags and artwork completed the Album creates its self, does it need iTunes to be an Album?
Having a collection of Albums would be a massive asset to the site.
And the truth is it's easier to market one if you have 10 behind you....it gives that one a bit more credibility....you want your customer to say "God where have I been, these guys are serious!"

The reason we have not sold many albums for Vol I is we have not done any marketing, it's as simple as that, if people don't know it's out it won't sell.
Personally I'm not concerned about how many get sold, as you said it would be great just to produce them for bandAMP.
As far as getting them published, I now use a different distributor, IT'S FREE, YES FREE, and it's sold through Amazon, iTunes and a few others. So once they are up their the albums will be available for as long as the distributor survives, so far they are growing at an alarming rate.
I disagree about not giving this a deadline, well it must have had some impact as you are the third member to show some support. So the deadline stays.
So yeah suggestions are welcome, has any other members got any song suggestions, why not suggest two or three of your bandAMP favorites

Hey Hey Hey....I'm putting the finishing touches on a remix of one of my songs and will get it to you within the week. Seems like the more I work on it,the more I find to improve it haha.
On the business of marketing, twice Ive posted a plea on Facebook for people to buy it ...dont know if it helped.
Where is VH1 in all this.
Since they get the $$ maybe an on air mention from them??
Maybe a little home page link action on VH1.com?
Maybe at least a "Tweet"?
Maybe some thanks?

The profits on the new album will be split between the members included in the album, this will hopefully give more motivation for us to market the album.
I have some marketing ideas which I posted on the original thread, once the album has been published I'll repost the method in the hope members will take an active part.

I checked out the tech section & downloaded the software.......really REALLY cool program....but I can't seem to convert to MP3.

Well I've already sent a .wav of one of my personal favorites.. But if you ask what songs by other members I'd like to see on there, that's a little trickier. I'd certainly vote for "The Future's In Robots", and certainly stuff from taka, a swordfish song, a JBP song, a Marino track, ofcourse a Denis track, and I see you are recruiting songs via the Audio Review forum itself. Now that's the way to go!
There is ofcourse a marketing challenge, this album is meant to draw attention to the site, isn't it? Again I'm thinking banner exchange, it should be facebooked, tweeted and myspaced all round but the question is, who is going to do this, who has sufficient reach to make this worth the effort? (personally, I am not into social media at all, and I'm not willing to, either)
Anyway I am certainly pro-deadline. Show a little spirit guys, go do this and offer up a track! Without deadlines people will postpone ad infinitum and we all know where that will lead to...

Probably something to do with the LAME codex !
But Denis will want your songs in WAV format, better quality for mastering, which you'll have to upload to a 'file sharing host' and then send Denis the link.

To use quote click on the Quote tab top right on the thread box in the one you want..
Just pick your favorites songs. Put a link on this thread so that members can hear and comment. Depending on how many songs are suggested everyone will have a chance to get a song included. I can understand that being a new member we are only just getting used to your music. You have made a great start, so don't hold back.

Only need good quality mp3's for the new dsitributer ( used tunecore last time) - 192 kbps or higher which makes the upload much much quicker. And you can email me the songs, would be great it you can also tag therm, this will save me time. In fact it will be a doddle. AND DONT FORGET IT'S ABSOLUTLY FREE
no subscriptions etc, once the album is up, it's up for good. When The AMP vol I comes up for subscriptio I will change it to this new distributer. BTW the new distributer is routenote.com

This was one of the cover designs by X Factor. It just needs editing for the top left hand and bottom needs raising to allow for bleeding, plus it needs centering . Has anyone else got any album designs they wish to post? Needs to be 600 x 600 pixels

Try saving your mp3 in iTunes....as an mp3 and call it a really simple name, clean out your cookies to be sure and then give it another go.

here I´m going to suggest two of my tracks for the "Vol.2"-list. All my tracks are üploaded in 192kbit.- format.

Your songs have been added to the above SELECTION ONE list
So how are we going to pick the songs for the album? Judges? Do we rate them Battle Style? We put together a top 15 list and compare notes? So far theres 24 songs from 17(?) different artists on the official list that I'm sure will grow by months end. I vote for that SkunkApe guy's song hahaha

I think it must be more attended on the functionality of the album´s widget (surface).
because When I visit our Vol.1 and try to open, it doesn´t work correctly sometimes. Need a few attempts. Then, if it´s opened and I try to roll down & up the title list it clamps too.
Are there users who made the same experiences or is it due to my computer ?

At the end of the month I will ask members to either pick 10 or less, don't forget that some members have more than one song in the list so it will not be too difficult to make a selection, don't thin it's fair to have two songs from one members, I think we are all agreed on that point??, unless we have a mad rush, the more the merrier
DONT FORGET AMPERS, YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF SEPTEMBER TO NOMINATE SONGS EITHER FROM YOURSELF OR ANOTHER MEMBER, OR BOTH

Dave, nice to hear from you again. Hope you are well, are you still recording any music?
The voting has now finished, I'm in the process of gathering all songs to see how many will fit on a CD, then master the tracks, I did the same for volume I, there is a widget on the home page if you want to hear the songs.
There will be a new album annually, so you will have the opportunity next year.
