European get together |
For us Europeans who can't make it to the bandamp north American party (I can't be the only one) a friend of mine is running a pub in the UK (Suffolk) and it would be the perfect place to have a bandamp gig
There's a large outside space and in the summer months it would be a great place to have a all day event if anyone was interested
let me know your thought on that one
ps
I don't want to make any concurrence to the north American party I would personally I would love to go but my finance prevent me to take all the family down there

Got a time/date in mind?
I'd love to meat the rest of you guys and gals!
I'd love to go to the bandAM do but it's a bit out of my reach financially, but a Brit Trip to britAmp I could get into, there are a few other people I'd like to see in that part of the world so I'll probably go with the Landy, meaning that I could take at least 4 there (from Amsterdam area). You could find your own way back. Though EasyJet would be cheaper all round, I suppose, it's an idea anyway!

Well, I can't make it to either of the get-togethers. But I would ask that at one or the other, you all gather around a campfire at some point and sing a song in honor of dodosito, whether he is present or not.
It israther important. The Book must not be disobeyed.

My friend and I were thinking about the bank holiday weekend in august (that would be the Saturday 25th)
The pub has its own camp site and we would organized some kind of stage and a sound system
All he's asking is to have few acts that can hold the stage but when I see the talented people on the site I don't think that would be a problem!

count on us! |
we are dying to go!
idea |
why not a bandamp live recording that day?
Hmmm, seriously considering this now.
Has the 25th Aug been agreed (it's a busy weekend for travel, may put some off)?
Who's doing what, or is it going to be a type of open mic event?
What equipment do we need to bring (guitar amps, instruments, mics, anything!)?
Original music or covers - or does nobody care?
What's the overnight accommodation like over there?
Questions, questions, questions!

Sorry I took so long to answer but I've been kind of busy lately
The date for the gig would be the 25/26 of august
It will be at a pub called the White horse inn in Edwarstone Suffolk (UK)
The pub has a beer festival that weekend and will have a stage with a sound system available
there will be local bands playing but there will be an open mic spot on the Sunday for the people of bandamp If ampers want to secure their own set we're open to discussion
For the accommodation the Pub has is own campsite and it will be free for the bandamp members there's 2 self catering cottages too if you want a little bit more comfort available for rent around the £ 60/70 a night that sleep 6 or something like that but you would need to tell us quickly to book it
I hope it answers some of your questions if you want more details please ask and I'll try to give you all the info you need

Yes! just checking flights !!!
Landys off the road any way!
OK! So Edwardstone, Sudbury, Suffolk CO10 5PU is not very far from Harwijk so I checked out Ferrys :
HvHolland-Harwich vr 24 aug Stena Hollandica 14:45 20:15 30,00
There's another the same time the day before for 30,00, but the second later departure demands you buy a cabin to sleep in!

Well said Mr Fish... I'm certainly not taking a weekend off work, and then driving hours to just turn up for a beer festival. More is needed - this could be a place for unfortunate non-attendees of the North American party to console ourselves in some really excellent Euro style knees-up (joined, of course, by those lucky enough to be able to attend both), or it could be a damp squib!
I don't want the latter.
Post Please VincentL

So what's the gen then on on this get together!???
With all due respect we don't really need a word from Vincent either, in that he has proposed a meeting place which is pretty central to England and close to Harwich, in this 'WWW' situation it doesn't depend on him, we are free to do what we chose !!
I would like to see a fairly definite 'show of hand' as to who will be there though.
Is Sudbury under water? Does anyone know?
Landing in the middle of a 'Beer Fest' could have its good points!
It's not going to be something like Tritons used to is it? How big is Edwardstone?
THIS IS THE GOOGLE MAP FOR EDWARDSTONE

back from holiday |
Sorry guys for being so quiet lately but I was away with the family and without an access to a computer
There's been few changes since my last update but the festival is still on even if the pub is not run by my mate anymore
Camping is still free and there will be lots of band playing all weekend
I should have a spot secure on the Sunday to play so we'll be able to jam
I will send my contact to the fish via pm so can discuss the matter
I don't know what kind of gear will be available on site but I will bring my own (Roland AC60 acoustic amp , takamine acoustic bass , bass amp , mic , ...)
sorry again for living so late but I hope not too late
Vincent

OK... on the strength of this, I say "yes".
Will phone the pub and see if they have rooms to rent. I'm fussy in my old age, and the camping gig really doesn't do it for me.
Meeting Saturday night... gigging Sunday pm.... all good for me.
I'll bring guitars, amp, pedal for sure.
I Have a 2K power amp that I'll bring if need be, but don't have speakers for. Also, I have a 16/4/2 mixer and 3 mics that I can chuck in the car (but only one mic stand) if absolutely necessary, but it's far better to use the house PA if they have one.
Thoughts anyone?

And off I go! |
Not quite up to the North American bandamp party... but it's happening today and tomorrow - and there will be a few bandampers there. So off I go.
The fact that it's at a beer festival does make it attractive too of course
So, if there are any last minute takers... see you at the White Horse in Edwardstone, Suffolk, UK in about 4 hours!!!

And now I'm back!!! |
We had a seriously great time.. not only did the word of Bandamp get spread into deepest darkest Suffolk, but I spent two great days meeting people and talking (and playing) music with them. Yes I had a beer or two - but had to drive, so no overdoing it for me.... of course, the same can't be said for Kings!!

There are some awesome musicians out there...
VinceL, I'm so glad that it was you following Lincoln and Robbie and not me! hehe
So I may even be back for the next festival there.
All that didn't make it (eyes North in particular) you missed a real treat.

EuroAmp Gathering |
What a weekend!!!!!
Just got back. Fairies are bloody slow I tell ya!
I'm going to take the next few days 'coming back' and digesting it all.
Jim I don't think anyone over did anything, I think we all got off to a flying start! lol
Thanks too for being such a wonderful person to spend such a wonderful weekend with.
I know what it was with 'Teaser' , Wisdom should have been there with you doing it!!!
You gave a really good show Jim, but I will agree with you that the true spirit of the gathering shone on the Saturday afternoon when you spontaneously joined Graham in an excellent performance.
Vince, was that invitation to have dinner at yours for EVERYBODY from bandAmp that turns up next year?
Dude you live in one perfect place for a festival !
And one perfect Eddy fest it was too!
I'm so glad I had the chance to meet such wonderful people, certainly on the musical side of the festival, I tried the Beer part on Saturday that went down quite well, to start with!
Too many local English beers in one day cant be good for any one!!
Ironic how I end up enjoying the German beer from the local pub!!
Cheers.
There was some really good music going on, whether from the main stage ( the trailer ) or from stage two ( the open mike next to the bar ). It was such fun, so spontaneous and off the cuff, after every 3rd false start, a tweak here and a push of a knob there, every one gave a star performance.
Jim, I looked for 'Jerimah Marquers the Blueales' on my space! with no look!
bandAmp did become an issue, starting simply with the fact that everyone we met was so friendly and wanted to know who we were, where we were from and what we were doing there! lol
It is the perfect place to have an annual EuroAmp Gathering, but that I am going to get deeper into another time, it's late and I'm digesting a little bit too quick!
Thanks to all those who were there and to those that weren't, try and make it there next time, because you really should be!
Here are some pictures : Eddy Fest 2007
